Swan River, Perth, Western Australia
This is a place of many dimensions
where history clashes with modern progression.
Where once stood buildings of wood and white stone
now stand glass towers, repelling the glow of the ancient sun.
And up a cliff, high above the shoreline,
stands a haven for nature, peaceful and fine.
And upon this cliff linger the memories of soldiers-
monuments and plaques to King and Country.
A rainbow serpent sleeps,
dividing North and South,
a watery boundary where skiffs bathe in the sun.
Great bridges span the Swan,
a marvel of man, carrying weary travellers home.
